30777 Sir Lamiel on The Royal Border Bridge with a Huddersfield - Edinburgh steam charter which it had worked from York. 47? What 47? A few yards further on and the Class 47 inside the Scotch Arthur comes back into view :-( On the climb to Grantshouse the Scotch Arthur appears to be working hard but is perhaps getting a helping hand from his friend, 47760. 20Th December.

B1 61264 striding up Beattock Bank from Greenhillstairs road on 25th May. A patch of sun just catches 61264 as it accelerates away from the Abington water stop at Little Gill on 25th May. Duchess of Sutherland at home on Shap near Shap Wells, 3rd June 3rd June again this time on the S&C with Princess Elizabeth at Garsdale. The Duchess returned her train WCML on 3rd June seen at Great Strickland. Shortly after Lizzie went south Engine+Support Coach to take up its next working the following day. The following day, 4th June, 6201 worked back along the S&C seen here crossing Smardale Viaduct on the northbound journey. 4th June as 6201 returns south at Armathwaite/Low Baron Wood Farm. Princess Elizabeth had another outing on the S&C on 10th June where I was lucky enough to see her on Lund's Viaduct. The return working on 10th June was WCML, Bessy's Gill (I think it is called). 17th June was a disaster of a day around Dublin due to being unable to get accurate information, and the train running earlier than even I expected. Finally caught up with No. 4 at Mullingar. If 17th June in Dublin was bad then 23rd June in Belfast was even worse. 186 was booked on a mystery tour, it certainly was a mystery to me. This was the best that I could achieve, sorry. ALTERED IMAGE. 5th August. Pearched up on th hillside with the M6 between me and Duchess of Sutherland. All would be okay as long as an HVG didn't turn up on the southbound carriageway. Yes, you got it! One did, thank you Photoshop :-) No problems with HVG's on the return leg as it was S&C. The Duchess at Armathwaite/Low Baron Wood Farm. The Scotch Artur 30777 on Denthead Viaduct 27th August. 30777 returning south on 27th August crossing Eden Lacy Viaduct. Final view of 30777 on 27th August was at Helm. 45407 worked north on 31st August with a front number plate reading 45157 and its own number on the cab sheets. Seen here on Beattock Bank almost at the summit with everything under control. Restarting from the Abington water stop 45407 skirts the Upper Clyde as it journeys north. Rather pleased with this one. f2.8 @ 1/80th with the iso at 3200. 06:13 in the morning of 1st Sept. the Black Five is towed down Cowlairs Incline by a Class 33 diesel. Different matter when it came back! 45407 echoing off the high rise flats with its shear power. A pathing stop at Dumbarton allowed the leap frogging to start. 45407 crossing the River Leven. Approaching Crianlarich 45407 was just keeping in front of the next very heavy shower. By the time the Black Five was ready to restart from Crianlarich the river had risen six inches, well you know what I mean :-) Swimming back to the car from the last shot the sun came out, and the drive to County March was in sunshine. It went in just as the train came into shot. Still soaking from chasing the Black Five north from Glasgow I got even wetter the following day, 2nd September, when 5690 Leander stormed up Shap, seen here at a rain soaked windswept Scout Green. A dash then over to Armathwaite on the S&C for The Duke. Leander returned south on the WCML caught in reasonable light at Great Strickland. The Duke (carrying a government health warning about smoking) passes the gypsum works at Kirby Thore on 2nd Sept. Last sighting for me on 2nd Sept was at Helm as The Duke stormed along. 76079 near Esk Valley Chapel on 1st October. ALTERED IMAGE. Not knowing the area I was running out of time for a location for 76079 on the Whitby Endevours. This image has had a large branch removed by the kind Photoshop program. Sleights station for 76079 on its last trip of 1st Oct as I had not allowed myself enough time to get back to Whitby, next time............ 14th October saw 45407 now running as 45157 double headed with 62005 running as 62034 back from Fort William with the ecs from the Jacobite. Going away here at Achalladar. The Stanier/Peppercorn duo departing Bridge of Orchy on 14th Oct. Then on the Horse Shoe. And at County March. Crossing the river at Crianlarich. Approaching the level crossing at Cardross. And finally catching the last few seconds of sun light at Grangehall on the WCML. The last Mainline Steam in Scotland for the year was Princess Elizabeth returning in dreadful weather at Wandel on 17th Nov. 4953 caught me out at Bolton Percy running 30 early on 9th December. 10th Decemeber and 45407 restored to its own identity heads under the River Roch at Summit. My final Mainline Steam shot of the year was at Fairburn Ings as 45407 heads towards York on 10th December. My 'Mainline Steam' started on 28th January with my first visit to the Copy Pit line. 45407 puts on a very impressive show just as the long winter shadows were about to envelope the line. 4th March, in the freezing fog and with a good layer of snow 45407+76079 make a wintery scene as the head east on the Liverpool & Manchester line near Lowton. Later on 4th March the 45407+76079 duo are seen from the hillside as they start to climb up Copy Pit. The snow had all gone by the afternoon and 45407+76079 had reached Bolton, 4th March. The early morming sunshine bounces off the side of B1 No. 61264 and its train as they make their ascent of Beattock Bank on 25th May being the stock from Carnforth to Fort William for the forthcoming Jacobite season. The B1 was to have been accompanied by K1 62005 but the work required on the 2-6-0 had not been completed in time so it was down to the B1 to 'Hold the Fort' until it could be joined by its stablemate.

Perhaps the only way over Shap, Beattock and Drumauchdar for this record claimer? David Lloyd George arrives at Porthmadoc on 29th April. Porthmadoc 29th April as Prince coasts into the terminal with a slate train complete with brakesmen. Merddin Emyrs departs from Porthmadoc on 29th April. Merddin Emyrs arriving at Blaenau Ffestiniog on 29th April. Eddystone steams along at darnholm on 20th May. Beck Hole in the torrential rain as 5224 blasts up the grade, 20th May. 20th May was a very wet day as 80135 paddles through Darnholm. Yet another Darnholm shot on 20th May as Sper D 49395 plods along up hill. The weather wasn't even as good as it looks here. 76079+75029 depart Goathland. Moorgates and just visable through the never ending torrents of rain is Eddystone, it is a pity it wasn't the Lighthouse of the same name, at least it would have brought a bit of light along with it :-) Esk Valley Cottages is this vantage point as the two western tanks, 5224+6619, depart from Grosmont on 20th May. Still at Esk Valley Cottages (we were afraid to go back to the ford) as 80135 departs with the teaks. The Super D at Esk Valley Cottages. 75029+76079 at Green End. 76079+6619 attack the grade at Darnholm on 21st May. Staying at Darnholm to see the Super D was well worthwhile. The all too brief spell of decent light had gone before midday on 21st May and the rain restarted. Plenty of action at Levisham as 49395+80135 arrive while 5224 waits for a clear road to depart. Mor in hope and desperation resulted in this shot of 75029+37028 on a very late Sunday Lunch train departing Goathland, we departed home strat after this one as it was raining by the bucketful. City of Truro departing Broomhill on 9th Sept. 3440 skirting the River Spey near Lynchurn after departing Boat of Garten on 9th Sept. 29th Sept as 30926 passes Esk Valley Cottages on a test run to check valve settings. Once 30926 had returned to Grosmont 60007 was allowed to depart, what a wonderful sight to see a Steak on the Teak. The following morning, 30th Sept, 60007 at Darnholm. Once The Streak on The Teak had reached Goathland 53809 was allowed to return the demo frieght north. 30926+75029 were next to appear at Darnholm on 30th Sept. My first visit to Thomason Foss, or is it Water Ark? Eitherway framed by the foiliage 49395 slogs its way up the incline with the demo frieght. 15 minutes later 53809 had charge of the passenger train as it too toiled up the hill. A short distance further on 60007 is again seen with the rake of teak coaches. Southern 825 making light work of its train at Moorgates on 30th Sept. Esk Valley Cottages is the location for this view of 30926+75029 departing Grosmont. Green End as 53809 works a demo frieght, pity the first two vehicles give the wrong impression, but what a smoke maker this engine is. I personally have no recollection of the early BR Express Passenger loco. livery, too young. Still it does suit SNG. This is how I remember them, (ALTERED IMAGE) On 1st Oct there was a large police presence at Fen Bog to look after a demo at the nearby RAF station, I thought that access was not going to be allowed but was assured by the constable that it was okay to proceed. SNG shut off just before coming round the corner which is noted for my next visit. ALTERED IMAGE. An attempt to use the motion blur im Photoshop to give a 'pan' effect of SNG crossing Fen Bog. This should have been taken earlier in the day to make better use of the sunlight, another thing noted for my next visit. 80135 pilots 75029 appraoching Moorgates. SR 825 has charge of The Diner at Moorgates, the second coach (Robin) was the one where my wife and I had enjoyed a wonderful meal the previous evening. Expensive but worth every penny. 6619 with another demo frieght at Darnholm on 1st Oct. From high above Esk Valley Cottages 80135 is seen blending well with the wonderful scenery on 1st Oct. 80105 blasts up from the shoreside at Kinniel towards Birkhill with a Santa Special on 16th Dec. 23rd Dec as 80105 departs Kinniel with the 12:00 Santa from Bo'ness. Taken from alongside the Old Kirk 80105 is seen returning to Bo'ness just after the restart from Kinniel on 23rd Dec. 80105 with the 13:30 Santa on 23rd Dec. ALTERED IMAGE. Looking through the hole in the wall of the platelayers hut 80105 works towards Birkhill on 23rd Dec. 80138 departs Williton on 24th March. 45440+34067 near Doniford on 24th March. 44422 leads 34067 tender first near Linton on 34th March. Another shot at Linton this time 73129 and 92203. 25th March at Bicknoller (I think) with 76009+73129.
